Director, Nuclear Medicine & PET/CT
Professor Ora Israel is a graduate of the School of Medicine in Bucharest, Romania and of the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa.
The Director of Nuclear Medicine/PET at Rambam, Prof. Israel is the past Associate Director for Research Operations at RHCC. She is also Professor of Imaging at the Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
A pioneer in the field of nuclear medicine, Prof. Israel has been involved in the development of the hybrid SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging technology since its early beginnings in the late 1990s.
The author of three textbooks and over 185 scientific articles, Prof. Israel also serves on the editorial boards of prestigious journals in the field of Medical Imaging. A Visiting Professor at the Harvard Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine in Boston and a member of the Global Medical Advisory Board for the Hybrid Functional Imaging/PET Business of General Electric Healthcare; she is the 2006 laureate of the prestigious Alkalis Prize for Excellence in Research awarded by the Jewish National Fund.
