The efforts of the Technion Integrated Cancer Center rely on a robust network of integration with other engineering based disciplines at the Technion as with Medical and research institutions across the country and abroad. The spirit of collaboration is embedded in TICC principles of operation, as it is often reflected in both medical and engineering faculty members. This is reflected in a number of collaborative initiative that are formulated between members of the Technion communities, as with the 5 affiliated hospitals. External collaboration includes key healthcare providers as well as biotech and pharmaceutical companies, in addition to research and medical centers.
The first TICC-based integration workshop was held in June 2016, where a dozen of engineers and group of biologists discussed possible solutions to three of the major clinical obstacles in oncology today – from early diagnosis, therapy-resistance, to tumor heterogeneity. Innovative solutions were discussed and formulate the basis for collaborative efforts where physicians, basic researchers and engineers will work together.
